Chancellor Fingerhut Names Antioch University McGregor President Dr. Barbara Gellman-Danley Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and System Integration

COLUMBUS OHIO—Board of Regents Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut announced today that Dr. Barbara Gellman-Danley, President of Antioch McGregor University, will serve as his Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and System Integration effective September 1, 2008.

Dr. Gellman-Danley will oversee the Division of Academic Affairs and System Integration, which will advance elements of the Strategic Plan for Higher Education such as adult education, academic programs, dual enrollment, college readiness, and ensuring the University System of Ohio is a flexible network that serves students at all levels.

“I am thrilled that Dr. Gellman-Danley will be joining the Board of Regents,” said Chancellor Fingerhut. “Her unique combination of state experience, community college and private higher education presidential leadership combine to enrich the goals of the new Division of Academic Affairs and the University System of Ohio.”

In January 2008, Dr. Gellman-Danley served a one-month sabbatical at the Ohio Board of Regents, during which time she contributed to Ohio’s 10-year strategic plan, with a focus on the role of adult learners and the important integration of independent higher education institutions into the vision. Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut nominated her in March 2008 to serve as Coordinating Officer for Rio Grande Community College and the University of Rio Grande—a role she will continue as part of her new position.

Dr. Gellman-Danley began her presidency at Antioch University McGregor in May 1999. In the past nine years, the campus grew in enrollment, added several new programs, became extremely active in the region and in September 2007, opened its new 94,000 square foot campus in Yellow Springs.

Prior to her presidency at Antioch, Gellman-Danley served as Vice President for Information Technology at Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York and before that as Vice Chancellor for Educational Outreach at The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. Her higher education career includes community college teaching and leadership, state regulatory oversight and private higher education through the graduate level. She also served in leadership roles in Oklahoma in cable television and public broadcasting.

Dr. Barbara Gellman-Danley is a graduate of Syracuse University (College of Visual and Performing Arts, Speech-English Education B.S.), Simmons College (School of Library and Information Studies, M.A.), Oklahoma City University (M.B.A.), and University of Oklahoma (Ph.D., Communications).
